No, there are lots of muscle cars other than American muscle cars. For a start., Mercedes-Benz makes some very powerful versions of its sedans and coupes, and Brabus has modified one of these so that it can do 227 mph. Why? Because there was a record to be broken, not much to do with people driving around the highways and byways. Even the lumbering Rolls-Royce and Maybach are muscle cars.
Are there any lightweight muscle cars? Well, the Ford Mustang and Shelby GT500 are pretty light, but their suspension is not really good enough for a high-performance car. The BMWs do handle well, despite being quite heavy, and have adequate brakes, while Audi produces the lightweight A8.
Coming down to earth, ever a very small car can be a muscle car.
The MINI Cooper S and VW Golf Gti are good examples. Of course, there are big American muscle cars like the Chrysler 300C SRT-8, which is pretty quick as it rolls off the production line. Some tuners turn these into amazing powerhouses with supercharging.
There is a muscle car to suit any pocket and any type of driving. Whether you blast along straight roads, or do a bit of amateur drag racing, or just have fun. A fairly compact auto like a Caprice, Thunderbird or whatever will do fine. You can put the biggest engine you can into it - or add a supercharger. OK, I know there are speed limits almost everywhere, but some are not so bad, and if you keep off motorways, expressways and freeways, and drive along country roads you can have a lot of fun.
